  • Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Appeals Unit

    The Portage County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Appeals Unit in the Criminal Division. This position handles appeals in adult felony and juvenile delinquency cases, manages post-conviction relief matters, and provides legal guidance to trial prosecutors.  The ideal candidate will be licensed in Ohio with previous experience in appeals practice, have a strong analytical and communication skills, and be able to manage multiple complex cases while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality.

  • Assistant Prosecuting Attorney – Special Victims Unit

    The Portage County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Special Victims Unit in the Criminal Division. This position is responsible for investigating, preparing and litigating felony criminal offenses against victims who are children, elderly or otherwise physically or mentally challenged, i.e. Special Victims. The ideal candidate will be licensed in Ohio with previous experience in Special Victims Unit cases. The candidate will attend pretrial conferences, bench trials and jury trials, attend and participate in training law enforcement officers in investigation and prosecution techniques in SVU cases. The candidate will participate in the preparation and implementation of protocols, policies and procedures for related agencies who assist in the prosecution.

  • Victims Assistant Advocate II

    The Portage County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking a Victims Assistant Advocate to assist and counsel crime victims. The Advocate will assist Prosecutors in evaluating cases and victims for preparation of trial. Responsibilities include creating and maintaining notification files in the computer for victim notification of cases, create and modify all correspondence with the parole board, handle phone calls and walk-ins by providing necessary assistance, referrals, and information. The advocate will also provide information, education, and referrals, maintaining an on-call status 24 hours per day, 7 days per week.
